Rembertów Police Arrest 21-Year-Old “Fake Police” Fraudster in Sopot

Rembertów detectives tracked a 21-year-old fraud suspect from Warsaw to a Sopot hotel, apprehending him after he successfully scammed victims out of 45,000 PLN and nearly 27,000 PLN using the “police officer” ruse.

The Scope of the Fraud

Detectives from Rembertów conducted an investigation into a series of scams where the perpetrator impersonated a police officer. In the first incident, a victim left 45,000 PLN in a trash bin as instructed by the fraudster.

Following this initial crime, investigators identified a 21-year-old suspect and tracked his movements to Gdańsk, suspecting he intended to commit further offenses in the area.

Swift Action in Sopot

Rembertów police coordinated with regional and municipal officers to locate the suspect. They arrived at his hotel room in Sopot at 6:00 AM, where he was apprehended without incident.

Upon his arrest, police discovered the suspect was already wanted by another Warsaw precinct. Officers recovered over 20,000 PLN in various currencies, which was later confirmed to be part of a 27,000 PLN fraud committed in Gdańsk.

Judicial Proceedings

The suspect was transported to the Rembertów station, where evidence was compiled. He was then brought before the Warsaw-Praga Południe District Prosecutor’s Office to face two charges of fraud.

Following a successful motion for pre-trial detention, the court ordered the 21-year-old to be held in custody while the case remains under the supervision of the Warsaw-Praga Południe District Prosecutor’s Office.
