Remote Access to Family Foundation Information Sparks Data Security Concerns

Poland’s Justice Ministry plans to enable remote access to family foundation documents, raising concerns about data security.

Current Limitations and Proposed Changes

Currently, family foundations cannot be registered online, nor can their documents be downloaded from the internet. All formalities must be handled in person at the District Court in Piotrków Trybunalski.

This is set to change as work is underway on an amendment to the regulation of the Minister of Justice regarding the register of family foundations.

Electronic Access Plan

The ministry wants to enable the downloading of extracts and certificates also in electronic form. Everyone will also be able to independently download and print information about the foundation.

Mixed Reception of Proposed Changes

The proposed changes are rather positively assessed by experts and courts. During consultations, however, critical voices and demands for further changes have also appeared.
