Accident Details
At 17:30 on Tuesday, Dec. 2, a Toyota Corolla—operated for an app‑ordered transport—was involved in a serious collision with a personal BMW on the junction of Jana Pawła II Boulevard and Nowolipki Street. The crash injured a passenger in the Toyota, who was transported to a hospital by ambulance staff.
Location and Maneuver
The incident occurred on the stretch of Jana Pawła II Boulevard between the Arkadia shopping centre and the city centre. The Toyota driver was heading away from Arkadia and, at the intersection with Nowolipki, attempted a reversing manoeuvre. During this turn, the vehicle failed to yield to the BMW travelling along the boulevard, resulting in the collision.
Damage to Vehicles and Infrastructure
Both cars sustained extensive damage. The impact caused the BMW to collide with road markings and further damaged the roadway infrastructure at the junction.
Emergency Response
Firefighters arrived on scene and secured the wrecked vehicles. They disconnected the batteries, neutralised leaking fluids, and eliminated additional hazards to motorists and the environment. All actions were carried out directly at the intersection.
Medical Assessment
Medical rescue personnel evaluated the injured passengers on site. After a preliminary assessment, the Toyota passenger was admitted to a hospital for further diagnosis and treatment.
Police Investigation
Police officers managed the scene, collected evidence, documented the event, and investigated the circumstances—including the reversing manoeuvre. They confirmed that both drivers were sober and possessed the required driving licences.
