Road Closure on Warsaw’s Otwocka Line: Intersection at Patriotów Street Shut Down

PKP PLK begins railway modernization on Warsaw’s Otwocka line, closing the intersection of Patriotów and Młoda streets in Wawer for up to two weeks.

Construction Details

PKP PLK is modernizing railway line No. 7 from Warsaw Wschodnia Osobowa to Dorohusk. On Monday, February 16, at 8:00 AM, railway workers will close the intersection of Patriotów and Młoda streets in Wawer. The detour will follow the Patriotów street on the other side of the railway tracks. This construction phase is expected to last until early March.

The closure affects the Patriotów street from the roundabout with Młoda street for approximately 70 meters towards Józefów, until the exit of the internal road connecting to Młoda street. Młoda street will also be closed between buildings numbered 19 and 30, between the internal road and Patriotów.

Traffic Impacts

The closure of Patriotów street from the Michalin side will not affect access to properties at Patriotów 51. The detour will follow Patriotów street on the other side of the railway tracks. Crossings will remain possible at Falenica and Michalin stations.

Traffic disruptions will last a maximum of two weeks, until Monday, March 2. The railway crossing at Warszawa Falenica station will remain open.

Bus Route Changes

Bus routes 161, 213, and night service N72 will have detours. Bus 161 will travel to Falenica loop, then via Bysławska, Poezji, Jachowicza, Olecka, Włókiennicza, Michalinka, Patriotów, and Piłsudskiego streets in Józefów to Rondo Księdza Popiełuszki. There, they will turn back and stop at the PKP Michalin 02 stop before heading toward Zbójnej Góry. Night service N72 will follow the same detour in both directions. Line 213 will only detour toward Błot via Patriotów and Bysławska streets.

Bus line 146 will continue to operate on its regular route without changes.

Railway Modernization Project

The modernization and expansion of the railway line is an investment by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. Currently, the Warsaw Wawer – Otwock section is being reconstructed. Two new tracks will be built here, allowing separation of long-distance and suburban train traffic and increasing the number of services. Platforms will be adapted for people with reduced mobility. New underpasses will be constructed, and existing ones will be rebuilt.
