On Friday, 5 December, a TVN24 reporter asked Confederation MP Konrad Berkowicz for a receipt from his October IKEA purchases in the Sejm hallway, sparking a heated exchange.
Incident at the Sejm Hallway
At a parliamentary session on 5 December, TVN24 correspondent Radomir Wit approached MP Konrad Berkowicz in the corridor, requesting a receipt from October IKEA purchases. Berkowicz said the receipt would prove he had made larger buys, and that some items had not been scanned because of his haste.
He issued an earlier statement claiming he had headphones on and did not notice the omission, attributing the mistake to rushing and inattentiveness.
You Don’t Let Me Answer
Berkowicz accused journalists of interrupting and preventing him from completing his responses during the interview. He claimed the incident was clearly a mistake and repeatedly answered the reporter’s question. The tension rose when the reporter said he had not asked before, prompting Berkowicz to retort that he was still being cut off.
Five Minutes of Back‑and‑Forth
For roughly five minutes, the MP insisted he could not answer because of continual interruptions, while reporters suggested a simple yes or no would suffice. Berkowicz avoided a definitive reply, stating his answer would be “what he considered fitting.” No clear answer was given about the receipt.
Video Circulates Online
Shortly after the exchange, Berkowicz uploaded a video of the confrontation to X. In response, TVP Info posted a video of the same incident, labeling it “harassment, lies, and eventual escape.” The MP described the recordings as evidence of the media’s wrongdoing.
Unclear Language?
Online commentators divided, with some defending the MP as mistreated and others criticizing the recording for humiliating him. Journalist Krzysztof Stanowski called the MP’s remarks “very wrong in his head.” Critics argue the MP’s words may have been taken out of context and misinterpreted.
