Rubio Praises Momentum After Geneva Summit

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the recent Geneva summit as a “very, very significant” meeting, potentially the best day in the entire process since the U.S. took office in January.

He said the talks made great progress on the U.S. peace plan, which Washington proposed to Ukraine following consultations with Moscow.

Plan Calls for Ukrainian Concessions and Limits NATO Aspirations

Washington’s 28‑point peace plan requires Ukraine to make substantial territorial concessions to the Kremlin, reduce the size of the Ukrainian army, and renounce its aspiration to join NATO. The plan also stipulates that Russia would face no consequences for war crimes.

Ukrainian Delegation Labels Talks “Very Productive”

Andrij Jermak, chair of the Ukrainian delegation, announced the first session with the U.S. delegation was finished and called the meeting “very productive.” He noted that significant progress was made and that the parties were moving toward a just and lasting peace.

Jermak thanked the U.S. and President Trump personally for their engagement in building peace and said the second meeting, to be held that Sunday with European partners, would continue joint work on proposals. Final decisions will be taken by the presidents.

Next Meeting to Advance Sustainable Peace Efforts

The Ukrainian team plans to build on the productive dialogue by working with European partners to develop concrete proposals, aiming for a comprehensive and durable resolution to the conflict.
