Russia Accuses Ukraine of Attack After Trump’s Plea to Putin

Russia claims drone attacks while remaining silent on Trump’s request to halt energy strikes amid record cold.

Alleged Drone Attack Details

Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported Ukrainian drone attacks on its territory, claiming 18 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down over Bryansk, Rostov, Astrakhan, Kursk regions, and Crimea. One person was reportedly injured, and two cars were damaged. The airport in Gelendzhik was suspended.

However, the truthfulness of these claims remains uncertain. Moscow may be attempting to blame Ukraine for not maintaining the energy ceasefire conditions, potentially justifying further strikes on Ukrainian cities.

Trump’s Request to Putin

On Thursday (January 29), Donald Trump announced he had asked Vladimir Putin to halt attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure for several days. Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that talks with Russians on this topic had taken place.

The Kremlin has remained silent on this matter, with Dmitry Peskov only stating that “for now I cannot say anything on this topic.”

Record Cold Hits Ukraine and Russia

Ukraine and Russia are preparing for extreme cold, with temperatures around -30 degrees Celsius expected in Kharkiv, Kyiv, and even Lviv regions. Moscow has already recorded -19 degrees.

Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities are struggling with serious energy problems, with many homes lacking electricity, water, and heating.
