Peace Talks in Abu Dhabi

Second round of peace negotiations began in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, February 4. Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev expressed satisfaction with the talks’ progress on Thursday, stating, “There is progress,” according to Russian state media. He described the movement as “a good, positive step forward.”

Russia Criticizes EU

Dmitriev criticized European Union nations for obstructing crisis resolution efforts. He accused European politicians of “fomenting war,” asserting their efforts are ineffective due to visible progress in the talks. Russia aims to sideline European negotiators, leaving Ukraine isolated to force concessions from Kyiv.

Trilateral Meeting

Representatives from Ukraine, Russia, and the United States met in the UAE capital. Few details were disclosed following Wednesday’s discussions.

Attacks Continue Amid Talks

Russia launched ballistic missiles and drones against Ukraine overnight Wednesday into Thursday, coinciding with trilateral peace talks. Targets included Ukraine’s capital Kyiv. Despite Ukrainian defenses, 22 drones and two ballistic missiles struck 16 locations. Residential buildings were damaged, with at least two injuries reported in Kyiv. Drones also hit Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
