A Russian adviser announced that a leaked conversation about Ukraine, allegedly involving President Putin, was “unacceptable” and “false,” prompting a sharp rebuke from Moscow.
Putin’s Adviser Calls Leak “Unacceptable”
Ukrainian‑Russia discussion material that leaked to the press, junior adviser Jurij Uszakow said on Wednesday, was partly “false” and immune to public commentary because the talks were confidential.
He added that the disclosure of a serious discussion was “obviously unacceptable” and suggested the leak was intended to complicate negotiations.
Scenes of the Uszakow‑Witkoff Conversation
Uszakow revealed that some of his discussions took place through state‑encrypted channels rarely tappered. He noted that other exchanges occurred over WhatsApp, which could be intercepted, but denied that the media reports originated from the participants themselves.
He also hinted that he would discuss the matter with former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Steve Witkoff.
Media Reconstructs the Confidential Call
According to Bloomberg, U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff tried to advise Uszakow on October 14 to guide Putin on how to present a 28‑point peace plan to Donald Trump and discuss Russia’s interests in Donetsk, including territory swaps.
Witkoff reportedly suggested that Putin call the U.S. president to congratulate him on a Gaza peace agreement, express Russia’s support and respect for Trump, and mention the takeover of Donetsk.
