Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov announces major replenishment of equipment and ammunition for the military.
Russian Military Resupply
Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov reported the replenishment of weapons and ammunition stocks in the military. He stated that in January, approximately 2 million rounds of ammunition and over 10,000 pieces of weapons were delivered to the army.
For the entire year of 2026, over 310,000 pieces of equipment and approximately 21 million rounds of ammunition will be supplied to the Russian army, the minister said, as quoted by TASS.
Trilateral Peace Talks in UAE
The second round of peace talks involving representatives of Ukraine, Russia, and the United States begins on Wednesday, February 4, in Abu Dhabi. The Russian delegation departed for the United Arab Emirates after 5:00 AM Polish time.
Both Kyiv and Moscow acknowledge that common ground has been found on some issues, but territorial matters and security guarantees remain unresolved. Ukraine is considering various compromise options that could lead to a ceasefire. Russia refuses concessions and demands Ukrainian withdrawal from all currently occupied oblasts, strongly opposing the stationing of allied soldiers in Ukraine.
Ukraine’s delegation is led by Security Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, including Head of the President’s Office, former intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov. The group maintains constant contact with Volodymyr Zelensky. Prior to the Emirates talks, Zelensky emphasized that from Ukraine’s perspective, the most critical point is what Europe and the United States can guarantee in the event of another Russian attack. The Ukrainian president has repeatedly identified Russia’s ultimatum demanding full Ukrainian withdrawal from Donbas as the main sticking point. Recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, breaking a several-day energy truce negotiated by Donald Trump with Vladimir Putin last week, added tension before the talks.
Russian Drone Attacks on Ukraine
On Wednesday, February 4, Kyiv reported that Russia launched over 100 attack drones into Ukraine overnight. Targets included Kharkiv, Odesa, and the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Most drones were Shahed-type.
Ukrainian defense intercepted a significant portion of the drones, some neutralized electronically. Reports indicate damage to residential buildings and industrial facilities in Odesa, with two people injured. Authorities in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast reported two fatalities. Explosions were also heard in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, where residential buildings remain without heating and electricity following the massive energy infrastructure attack on Tuesday.
