Russia Strikes Maternity Hospital in Odesa, Zelenskyy Denounces as Terror

A Russian drone attack on Odesa hit a maternity hospital, killing two and wounding twelve, including a child, prompting condemnation from Ukrainian President Zelenskyy.

Odesa Hospital Attack and Civilian Casualties

Two people were killed and twelve others, including a child, were injured in Odesa due to a drone attack, with a maternity hospital as the primary target, according to Serhiy Lysak, head of the city’s military administration.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the attack had no military objective, characterizing it as “pure terror” aimed at civilians, and reported the use of over 60 drones. He emphasized ongoing rescue efforts.

Further Ukrainian Targets Hit

Zelenskyy also reported strikes on residential buildings, businesses, the port, and critical infrastructure in Odesa. He asserted that each attack demonstrates Russia’s unwillingness to end the war, warning against any easing of pressure.

Attacks on Kryvyi Rih and Poltava Region

Russian forces also attacked other regions of Ukraine on the same day. Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, reported attacks on industrial and energy infrastructure, as well as residential areas.

Two workers were killed and two injured at an enterprise in Kryvyi Rih during the attack.

Casualty at Poltava Gas Facility

Naftohaz, the state energy company, reported the death of a 55-year-old employee during a Russian attack on gas extraction facilities in the Poltava region.

Ukrainian Strikes on Russian Military Targets

Ukrainian forces conducted retaliatory strikes within Russia, targeting the Promsintez factory in the Samara region with Ukrainian-made FP-5 “Flamingo” rockets.

Explosion at Russian Explosives Factory and Oil Refinery Damage

The Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff confirmed a strike on the factory, resulting in an explosion in the production zone. The facility produces over 30,000 tons of explosives annually for military use. Damage was also reported at the Yaroslavsky oil refinery, a key Russian oil industry asset.
