Canceled Ukraine‑U.S. Meeting

“Kyiv Post” reported on Dec. 3 that the planned meeting of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with the U.S. delegation—led by President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner and others—was canceled. The meeting was to take place in Brussels, but Zelensky has been en route to Kyiv while the Americans have flown from Moscow back to the United States. The reason for the abrupt change remains unknown.

Putin Welcomes U.S. Delegation at the Kremlin

The five‑hour talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were described by Kremlin adviser Yuriy Usakow as “necessary, constructive and significant.” He said the parties agreed on several points and that the president confirmed these. The negotiations were seen as opening a path toward sustained, peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict, according to the adviser.

NATO Secretary‑General Declines to Comment on Moscow Talks

NATO Secretary‑General Mark Rutte refused to comment on the Tuesday U.S.–Russia meeting in Moscow and remained silent on Putin’s threats towards Europe. He stated, “I will not comment on everything that Putin says” before the meeting of foreign‑ministers of Alliance countries. Rutte also thanked the U.S. president for initiating the talks, adding that only the United States under President Trump could have done so, but he declined to comment on each phase.
