Ukraine and Russia hold Geneva talks with military discussions progressing on ceasefire monitoring while political talks continue without breakthrough.
Military Track
On Wednesday morning, Rustem Umierov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, stated negotiations were divided into military and political tracks. The military group discussed ceasefire monitoring and its technical aspects.
All three parties made progress on the military front, with military personnel understanding how to monitor a ceasefire and end the war if political will exists. The US will definitely participate in monitoring, Umierov reported.
Political Track
Dialogue occurred on the political track, with agreement to continue talks, but no significant progress comparable to military discussions was noted, added President Volodymyr Zelenski, who did not participate in the Geneva meetings.
