Russian Drone Strike Damages Polish Home; Reconstruction Planned

A house in Wyryki, Poland, sustained damage during a September incursion of Russian drones, and a reconstruction project has been approved.

Damage and Investigation

Owners of the damaged home have selected a design for the new building, and a construction permit has been issued. Radio ZET reports the new building will be fully funded by government funds, and the family is currently residing in temporary housing.

In September, the Lublin District Prosecutor’s Office reported that an “unidentified flying object” caused damage, including to a residential home, in Wyryki-Wola, Włodawa County. As of that time, the object had not been identified as a drone or drone fragments.

Rzeczpospolita newspaper unofficially reported the object may have been an AIM-120 AMRAAM missile fired by a Polish F-16 fighter jet, but the missile allegedly had a “malfunction in the guidance system.”

Tusk’s Response and Accountability

“All responsibility for the damage to the house in Wyryki falls on the authors of the drone provocation, namely Russia,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk commented on X in September. He added that relevant services would inform the public, government, and president after the investigation concludes, and urged people to “leave Polish soldiers alone.”

Ongoing Forensic Analysis

In December, Prosecutor Anna Adamiak of the National Prosecutor’s Office stated that a comprehensive expert opinion from the Forensic Laboratory of the Main Gendarmerie Command in Minsk Mazowiecki would be crucial. The opinion requires experts to conduct a series of tests and other necessary procedures.

Russian Drone Incursion Details
