Incident Details
The incident occurred when two Russian fighter jets performed a low-level flyby over the Petrobaltic platform, located about 70 kilometers off the Polish coast in the Baltic Sea.
The Polish Border Guard reported that the Russian jets breached the platform’s security zone but did not violate Polish airspace.
NATO’s Response
NATO issued a brief statement saying it is aware of the reports and is in contact with Polish authorities, which are investigating the incident.

On the same day, Estonian authorities reported that three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets entered the country’s airspace, prompting Swedish NATO jets to intercept them.
The Russian defense ministry claimed the jets were on a routine flight from Karelia to a Kaliningrad airfield and did not breach Estonian airspace.
