Russians Threaten Lithuania With War, Say It May Burst Like a Balloon

Russian MP Andriĕj Kolesnik warned on November 21 that blocking transit of Russian oil to Krolowe could force Lithuania to “burst like a balloon,” equating it with a declaration of war.

Lithuanian Leader Threatens Transit Block

Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius said the country might block transit to Krolowe in response to Russian and Belarusian actions. He cited the smuggling of balloons into Lithuania and the blocking of Lithuanian trucks in Belarus as key provocations.

On Friday, November 21, Lithuanian Railways announced initial restrictions, halting the transit of Russian crude oil destined for Łukoil.

Kolesnik Equates Blockade to War Declaration

Andriĕj Kolesnik, a deputy of the State Duma, stated that imposing a blockade on Krolowe shipments would constitute a declaration of war against Russia and could lead to armed actions, citing the Kaliningrad region’s encirclement by NATO states.

Kolesnik Warns Lithuania Could Burst Like a Balloon

In an interview with Lenta.ru, Kolesnik warned that if transport to Krolowe is blocked, Lithuania could “explode like that famous balloon,” describing the country as such a balloon and criticizing Lithuania for accepting favorable transit fees from Russia.
