Two serious crashes on Poland’s S17 expressway near Gocław on Sunday afternoon halted Lublin‑bound traffic and left four people hospitalized.

Two major crashes on Sunday afternoon

Before 5 p.m., both incidents occurred on the Lublinbound lanes of the S17. Heavy Sunday traffic from drivers returning home contributed to the road conditions during the events.

First crash: car overturns

In the initial accident, the driver lost control of a passenger vehicle which veered off the road and overturned onto its roof. The driver was taken to a hospital; police are investigating the circumstances.

Second crash: multi‑vehicle collision

Soon after, another vehicle collided with two cars ahead, resulting in a three‑car pileup. Three passengers were transported to a hospital for further examination.

Traffic halted between Kołbiel and Lipówki

All traffic heading toward Lublin is now completely stopped between the Kołbiel and Lipówki interchanges. Vehicles are rerouted onto parallel service roads.

Roadside emergency response

Police and rescue teams are on site securing the crash locations while managing the detoured traffic flow. Congestion and significant delays are reported in the Gocław area.
