Following reports of a suspected pepper spray release at Public Primary School No. 30 in Opole on Thursday, May 28, 183 individuals were evacuated, with three receiving on-site medical assistance.
Emergency Response and Evacuation
Emergency services were notified of a potential gas exposure at the school shortly before 10:00 a.m. Firefighters arrived to ventilate the building, while 160 students and staff were safely evacuated from the premises.
A medical rescue team provided assistance to two students and one teacher. Aspirant Przemysław Kędzior of the Opole Municipal Police confirmed that none of the affected individuals required hospitalization.
Investigation into the Substance
Initial findings by the responding fire department revealed that the substance was not pepper spray, but rather an animal repellent brought to the school by a student.
