Marianna Schreiber chained herself to the entrance of a building housing the Civic Coalition’s headquarters in Warsaw, staging a protest against the party’s alleged handling of pedophilia cases.
Protest at Civic Coalition Office
Around 11:00 AM, Marianna Schreiber chained herself to the entrance of a building at 12 Wiejska Street in Warsaw, which houses, among others, the national office of the Civic Coalition (Koalicja Obywatelska). She stated the action was a political protest directed at the ruling party.
Schreiber conducted a live stream online during the protest, publishing commentary and accusations against the Civic Coalition, framing it as opposition to the party’s policies.
Allegations of Covering Up Pedophilia Cases
Schreiber released a statement claiming she was protesting the alleged “suppression of pedophilia cases involving members of the Civic Coalition.”
The protest follows a broader political dispute concerning the conviction of a former Civic Coalition activist from Kłodzko and her ex-husband in a high-profile case involving sexual offenses against minors and animal cruelty.
The woman received a 6.5-year prison sentence for failing to assist a child and complicity in some of the crimes, while her husband was sentenced to 25 years for 26 offenses, including rape, inducing other sexual acts, endangering life through drug use, possessing pornography, animal abuse, and inciting false testimony.
Police Response and Legal Considerations
Police arrived at the scene and determined the protest did not pose a threat to people or property, and no immediate intervention was required.
The owner of a café located in the building may pursue civil claims related to the disruption caused by the protest.
No injuries or significant disruptions were reported during the protest.
Act of Kindness During Protest
Due to the low temperature, the café owners offered Schreiber hot coffee while she continued her live stream and maintained her protest.
