Prosecutors search offices of Disciplinary Spokesperson for Judges in Poland, citing document withholding concerns.

Search Underway at Disciplinary Spokesperson’s Office

Prosecutors from the Department of Internal Affairs of the National Prosecutor’s Office are conducting activities at the office premises of the Disciplinary Spokesperson for Judges and their deputies, Prosecutor Anna Adamiak, spokesperson for General Prosecutor Waldemar Żurek, announced on Wednesday before 14:00. The action follows a January 14 decision in a proceeding initiated in March 2023 concerning Judge Przemysław Radzik, dismissed deputy Disciplinary Spokesperson.

The proceedings involve allegations of hiding documents through refusal to release them and individuals continuing to act in positions after dismissal, Adamiak explained.

“Files Not Transferred”

Prosecutor Anna Adamiak stated that ad hoc spokespersons appointed by the Minister of Justice and newly appointed Disciplinary Spokespersons sent letters to the office demanding transfer of all documentation from ongoing disciplinary proceedings.

“Despite the letters sent (…) such action did not occur. The files of proceedings were not transferred to authorized persons,” the spokesperson reported.

“Search Unrelated to KRS”

Prosecutor Anna Adamiak clarified that the search did not take place at the National Council of the Judiciary (KRS), emphasizing “the activities are not related in any way to the functioning and activities of the KRS.” The KRS merely provides office space for the Disciplinary Spokesperson, she explained.
