Secret Service Shoots Man Attempting to Enter Trump’s Mar-a-Lago

US Secret Service agents shot a man attempting to enter Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida after he was found with a firearm and gasoline canister.

The Secret Service reported that agents protecting the US President shot a man who attempted to enter the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. The residence belongs to Donald Trump.

According to the Secret Service statement, the man, about 20 years old, had a firearm and a gasoline canister with him when he was spotted near the north gate of Trump’s residence.

Shooting Incident at Northern Gate

An exchange of fire occurred between the man and Secret Service agents and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies. The incident happened overnight from Saturday to Sunday (February 21 to 22) at approximately 1:30 local time.

It has not been reported why the man tried to enter the Mar-a-Lago property.

Suspect Was Inside Inner Fence

Secret Service representative Rafael Barros stated that two agents of this service participated in the shooting.

Trump Was Not Present

During the incident at Mar-a-Lago, neither Trump nor members of his family were present. Reuters reported that the US President is currently in Washington.

Until the matter is clarified, Secret Service agents involved in the incident have been placed on mandatory leave.
