Security Alert Disrupts Warsaw Metro Line M2

Authorities have suspended traffic on parts of Warsaw’s M2 metro line following the discovery of an unattended backpack at the Bemowo station, triggering mandatory safety and pyrotechnic protocols.

Security Procedure at Metro Bemowo

An unattended backpack was discovered at the Bemowo station on the M2 line, prompting an immediate intervention by police and fire services. The station area has been secured as officials await a formal pyrotechnic assessment of the abandoned luggage.

Service Disruptions and Rerouting

Due to these ongoing security measures, metro trains are not operating along the full length of the line. Instead, service is currently restricted to loops between the Bródno and Księcia Janusza stations, with the Bemowo and Ulrychów stops temporarily closed.

Impact on Public Transport

The transport authority has extended bus lines 714, 719, and 729 to compensate for the metro closure. These routes have been adjusted to facilitate travel to and from the Księcia Janusza station area while the metro remains disrupted.

Repeated Safety Incidents

This incident follows a similar security alert earlier in the day on the M1 line, where emergency services were also required to address abandoned luggage. Standard safety procedures dictate that such interruptions remain in effect until the sites are cleared by experts.
