Fire Breaks Out on Bridge

A semi-truck carrying a sea container caught fire on the local lane of Grot-Rowecki Bridge around 8:30 PM on Saturday, February 14. The incident occurred in the middle of the crossing, with entry points from both Wisłostrada and ul. Broniewski blocked during the emergency response.

Driver Escapes, Fire Spreads Rapidly

The fire engulfed the cabin of the Iveco semi-trailer truck. The driver managed to exit the vehicle before attempting to fight the fire himself, but flames quickly spread throughout the cabin area.

Emergency Response Deployed

Firefighters and police were dispatched to the scene, with police blocking all access to the affected bridge lane to secure the operation area. A total of five fire brigades were deployed to extinguish the blaze.

Traffic Restrictions Lifted Gradually

Firefighters brought the fire under control by 9:20 PM, though two brigades from the Fire Academy remained at the site for further operations. About 10 minutes later, public transport was permitted to use the local lane, while firefighters prepared to remove the damaged truck to avoid obstructing traffic further.

Public Transport Disruptions Reported

The Warsaw Public Transport Authority (WTP) reported disruptions on multiple bus lines traveling toward Białystok due to the emergency on Grot-Rowecki Bridge. Lines 112, 114, 132, 134, 156, 186, 518, 705, and 735 experienced possible delays, with some rerouted to the S8 highway and missing certain stops.
