Poland’s Senior Card offers nationwide discounts on accommodations, healthcare, and services for individuals aged 60 and older.
Benefits and Usage
The nationwide Senior Card program provides a wide range of discounts for seniors over 60. It is honored in pharmacies, private clinics, sanatoriums, shops, museums, and during sports activities. Before applying, it is advisable to verify where exactly discounts apply and associated costs.
Discounts include promotions, reduced rates, and free entries for selected services and products. Offers cover accommodations and spa treatments, as well as retail and service points like stores, restaurants, and cultural venues.
Eligibility and Application
The Senior Card is available to anyone who has turned 60. To obtain it, individuals must become a supporting member of the MANKO Association. If the local municipality does not participate in the program, the card can be applied for online directly through the association.
Cost and Availability
For municipalities not participating in the “Senior-Friendly Municipality” program, a membership fee is required. The fee is 35 zł for one year or 50 zł for two years, per regulations.
Residents of participating municipalities receive the card without fees, with costs covered by the local government. Forms can be submitted in person at the MANKO Association office in Kraków, by mail, or at designated program points.
Comparison with Retirement ID
The Senior Card and retirement ID are distinct documents with different benefits. The retirement ID is issued automatically by ZUS at retirement age (60 for women, 65 for men) and is primarily digital in the mObywatel app, with a plastic version requiring an application.
Differences in discounts include the Senior Card offering partner program discounts, while the retirement ID provides benefits like reduced public transport fares.
