A serious water supply failure on February 5, 2026, in Warsaw’s Wola district left over 100 buildings, including a hospital and district office, without water.
Water Supply Disruption
A water supply failure in the Żelazna Street area on Wola led on February 5 to interruptions in water supply in several buildings, with problems also noted at St. Sophia Hospital. MPWiK indicated that work could last until late evening.
On Thursday, February 5, 2026, there was a serious water supply failure in the Żelazna Street area on Wola, resulting in water supply interruptions at the Wola District Office and surrounding buildings, including one residential building.
Cause and Repair Process
As reported, the cause of the problems was a crack in the water pipe. According to MPWiK, a water supply team was working on site, and the area needed cleaning before repairs could begin due to mud and sand carried by the flowing water.
After cleaning, water supply workers were to proceed with proper failure removal. MPWiK reported the start time of the supply shutdown as 14:20, with the expected completion time of the failure removal as 23:00 (February 5).
Hospital Response
The issue also concerned St. Sophia Hospital at Żelazna Street. According to deputy spokesperson of Warsaw Water Jolanta Maliszewska, the facility has dual supply and was using the second line during the problems.
Scope of Impact
A total of 111 addresses appeared in the MPWiK list on February 5, 2026, as subject to emergency water shutdown. This included buildings in Warsaw, as well as in Pruszków and Piastów.
