A series of incidents involving wild animals suddenly appearing on roads in Płońsk county, Poland, has prompted a police appeal for caution.
Wild Animals on the Roads
Wild animals, including moose, are increasingly appearing on roads in Płońsk county, posing a threat to drivers. These incidents have occurred on both local and national roads with high traffic volume.
Recent Incidents
Early today, around 3:30 AM, a moose suddenly ran onto a section of national road 7 near Niepiekła, heading towards Warsaw. The animal collided with a Nissan delivery van driven by a 57-year-old Warsaw resident. The moose then hit a Renault delivery van driven by a 48-year-old from Pomeranian Voivodeship, also traveling in the same direction. Fortunately, the drivers were not injured, and the moose escaped into the forest.
Later, just after 8:00 AM, on national road 62 near Nowe Przybojowo (Czerwińsk nad Wisłą commune), a car driven by a 45-year-old female resident of Płońsk county collided with a moose that suddenly ran onto the road. The animal escaped after the impact, and the car veered into the opposite lane, coming to a stop in a roadside ditch. Medical assistance was provided at the scene, and the driver did not require hospitalization.
Police Appeal
The Płońsk County Police Headquarters (KPP w Płońsku) is urging drivers to exercise caution, particularly in areas with forests, meadows, and fields, and to be alert to warning signs indicating the presence of wild animals.
