Collision on S8 Near Lucynów
On Saturday, December 13 after 14:30, an Iveco bus collided with energy‑absorbing barriers on the S8 heading toward Białystok near Lucynów in Wyszków County, injuring five passengers.
Initial Investigation Findings
Preliminary investigations suggest the driver struck the barriers for unknown reasons. All five passengers were aboard; three sustained severe injuries and were rendered unconscious.
Medical Response
Two patients were airlifted to hospitals by LPR helicopters, one transported by ambulance; the other two, with lighter injuries, also received hospital care.
Rescue Operations
Fire brigade units from JRG Wyszków, OSP teams from Lucynów Duży and Kamieńczyk, medical rescue teams, police, and two LPR helicopters were dispatched to the scene to secure the site, assist victims, and manage transport.
Traffic Impact
During the helicopter operations, traffic on the S8 was halted in both directions. After the helicopters departed, traffic toward Warsaw reopened, while the Białystok direction remains closed and may stay blocked for hours.
Detour Route
Police established a detour beginning at Mostówka, with vehicles rerouted toward Lucynów.
