A serious collision on Poland’s DK8 highway on Tuesday, November 25, left a Prague‑bound coach and a car off the road, prompting a multi‑agency response.
Serious collision on the route
On Tuesday, November 25 after 12:00 PM, a Prague‑bound commercial coach collided with a passenger car on Poland’s DK8 highway.
Preliminary investigations show that the coach driver was incorrectly changing lanes, leading to the impact, and the force of the collision necessitated police, fire, and medical services to intervene.
Several people in hospital
The most severely injured was a 33‑year‑old coach driver, who was taken to the hospital in a very serious condition and faces a life‑threatening situation, according to Oleśnica police.
The driver of the car was also transported to the hospital, though his life is not endangered, and four passengers from the coach – which carried 24 passengers – were admitted as well.
Road completely blocked
The incident site was fully closed off to traffic. Authorities are working to establish the exact sequence of events, and initial analysis indicates that the coach driver’s error could have been the main cause.
Until a replacement bus was arranged, the Oleśnica Crisis Management Center handled the passengers.
