A collision on the A2 motorway near Holendry Baranowskie on 22 November forced a rescue helicopter to land, after a driver’s seat was crushed between a trailer and a truck beside a tow vehicle.
Heavy‑Vehicle Collision
A pile‑up involving two trucks occurred at kilometer 425.8 on the A2 motorway heading toward Warsaw in the town of Holendry Baranowskie. Reported by TVN24, the trucks collided and then a tow truck carrying two buses struck a trailer attached to one of them.
According to the Żyrardów County Police Headquarters, the initial investigation indicates that the tow truck operator slammed into a stationary truck.
Casualty and Rescue
The incident left one person injured, identified as the driver of the tow truck. A rescue helicopter from the Polish Air Rescue (LPR) landed at the scene and transported the wounded to a hospital.
TVN24 noted that the driver’s seat of the vehicle had been crushed between the truck’s trailer and the vehicle that had been towed.
Road Closure
Police announced that the roadway was blocked following the accident and urged motorists to use alternate routes. The General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways confirmed by 9:00 that the stretch toward Poznan was cleared for traffic, while the section heading toward Warsaw remained closed.
Earlier Incident on the Corridor
Earlier that day, a nearby stretch of the A2 experienced a vehicle fire involving a tractor‑trailer with its trailer. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was undetermined, according to an officer from the Grodzisk Mazowiecki County Fire Brigade.
