The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued first-degree storm warnings for 13 Polish provinces starting Monday afternoon, May 11, forecasting heavy rain, hail, and strong wind gusts.

IMGW has issued first-degree warnings for the following provinces: Pomorskie, Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Mazowieckie, Wielkopolskie, Łódzkie, Świętokrzyskie, Lubelskie, Dolnośląskie, Opolskie, Śląskie, Małopolskie, and Podkarpackie.
The alerts are effective from 2:00 PM on Monday, May 11, until 1:00 AM on Tuesday, May 12. Storms will be accompanied by heavy rainfall of approximately 20 mm and wind gusts reaching 75 km/h, with small hail possible locally.
Monday’s Weather Forecast
Monday will see moderate to large cloud cover, though it will be minimal in the east during the first half of the day. Synopticians predict passing showers and afternoon storms with hail. Rainfall is expected to reach 10 mm in the northwest and east, and up to 20 mm in other areas.
Maximum temperatures will range from 18°C in the northwest to 23-24°C in the southeast, while coastal and foothill areas will be cooler, between 15°C and 18°C. Wind gusts may reach 80 km/h during storms, specifically 80 km/h in the Carpathians and 70 km/h in the Sudetes.
Tuesday’s Cooling Trend
Tuesday will bring a temperature drop, with maximums between 10°C and 14°C across most of the country, 16°C in the southeast, and around 8°C in foothill areas. In the east, large cloud cover and rain are forecast, with totals up to 20 mm and up to 25 mm in the Bieszczady mountains.
Moderate to large cloud cover with passing showers is expected elsewhere. In the high mountains, rain and snow are predicted, with the Tatras seeing a snow cover increase of approximately 10 cm. Wind gusts will reach 70 km/h in the Sudetes and 60 km/h in the Carpathians.
