Shock in State Protection Service: Four Directors Fired

MSWiA dismisses four SOP directors after audit reveals serious irregularities in the state protection service.

MSWiA Dismisses Four SOP Directors

On Tuesday (February 5), TVN24 reported that according to their findings, four directors and a deputy director from key departments in the State Protection Service (SOP) have been dismissed. The decision was reportedly made by SOP Commander Tomasz Jackowicz. MSWiA confirmed to the station that a series of personnel changes is underway in the service.

Minister Kierwiński Explains Personnel Changes

MSWiA Minister Marcin Kierwiński commented in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24, stating that controls by MSWiA revealed serious irregularities requiring immediate action. He decided to suspend Commander Jaworski and appoint a new commander to review personnel policy. The dismissed individuals made improper decisions that did not guarantee SOP was properly performing its duties.

Dismissed Directors Linked to Suspended Commander

An anonymous informant told TVN24 that the dismissed directors were believed to be linked to Gen. Radosław Jaworski, who headed SOP until January 20 and is now suspended. An officer of this service stated they expected the dismissals, as these directors formed the inner circle of trust of General Jaworski.

Two Cases Influenced Personnel Changes

According to TVN24, two cases influenced the removal of personnel: the theft of a Lexus belonging to the family of Donald Tusk and Belarusian drones that hovered over government and presidential buildings in Warsaw. An anonymous MSWiA official called these “drops that spilled the cup of bitterness,” noting that General Jaworski already had minimal trust as he was appointed by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Jaworski’s Suspension and Ongoing Investigation

Gen. Jaworski could not be removed without the president’s consent and reportedly did not agree to resign on his own, leading MSWiA to initiate control in SOP. MSWiA spokeswoman Karolina Gałecka stated that despite Jaworski’s appointment during the United Right government, the minister expected the formation to be run at the highest standards, which was not met according to audit findings.

Lexus Theft and Drone Incidents in Warsaw

In the night from September 9 to 10, a Lexus belonging to the family of Donald Tusk was stolen from a property in Sopot. The car was found in Gdańsk, but a 41-year-old man planning to fly to Bulgaria was detained four days later. He has been charged and is currently in custody. A few days later, a drone was detected over government buildings and Belweder in Warsaw, resulting in the detention of two Belarusian citizens.
