Police discovered the mummified body of an 86-year-old man in his Poznań apartment during a bailiff execution on January 28.

The discovery was first reported by portal Epoznan.pl, after a reader informed them that the body of a man was found in one of the apartment blocks on Bolesława Śmiałego housing estate in Poznań. The reader noted that neighbors all confirmed the man had supposedly left the country and was traveling.
The Poznań Municipal Police Command confirmed that the body of an 86-year-old man was discovered on January 28 during a bailiff execution. Although the man had standing orders for regular transfers to a housing cooperative, arrears had still accumulated.
Mummified Body
Media reports indicate the body was “mummified,” and the man may have died as early as 2022, based on food expiration dates found in the apartment. Preliminary investigations have ruled out the involvement of third parties.
Police are in the process of confirming the man’s identity through DNA testing, and the body will undergo an autopsy examination.
