Tensions Between MSZ and Presidential Palace
It is no secret that tensions often arise between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Presidential Palace. For example: on December 2, Radosław Sikorski posted a message criticizing Karol Nawrocki. “War at the border and an American-Russian reset is being prepared. The President instead of intervening with his patron in Washington, attacks the European Union and Ukraine. He does not sign ambassadorial nominations for 40 Polish diplomats. No, because no. No thanks,” wrote the head of the MSZ. In December, Nawrocki gave an interview to Wirtualna Polska. The president spoke about Donald Tusk as “the worst prime minister after 1989.” Asked about Radosław Sikorski, he replied: “I need to think about this a bit longer, but he would certainly be among the top contenders.” – “At the same time, I have had good, pleasant meetings. I think that Mr. Sikorski probably has a very ‘short fuse’ and ‘can’t handle the pressure’,” said the president.
Upcoming Meeting Set for January 26
Meanwhile, a few days ago, the head of the Presidential Office of International Policy, Marcin Przydacz, announced that Karol Nawrocki will meet with Radosław Sikorski. A date has also been set: January 26 at 2:00 PM. The president and foreign minister are to discuss ambassadors. Przydacz noted that in many Polish foreign missions, diplomats in the rank of charge d’affaires are currently functioning instead of ambassadors. He emphasized that this is not an optimal situation.
