Shooting at Lakeside Gathering in Oklahoma Injures Multiple People

Police responded to reports of gunfire at a gathering near Arcadia Lake in Edmond, Oklahoma, around 9 p.m. local time, leaving at least ten injured.

Edmond Police Department spokesperson Emily Ward stated that authorities received numerous calls regarding shots fired at approximately 9 p.m. local time. The incident occurred during a gathering of young people near Arcadia Lake.

Police have not disclosed the nature of the event that prompted the gathering.

Investigation Ongoing, No Arrests Made

As of late Sunday evening (May 3rd), no arrests have been made. Police emphasize there is currently no indication of a threat to residents.

“We are talking to victims and witnesses,” Ward said, adding that searches at the scene would resume the following day when it was light.

Injuries Reported, Condition Unknown

The condition of the injured is currently unknown.

Hospitalizations and Self-Reported Injuries

According to police, in addition to the ten individuals transported to hospitals by ambulance, other people sought medical attention independently. No information has been released regarding the condition of the injured or the cause of the shooting.

Arcadia Lake is located approximately 21 kilometers (13 miles) north of Oklahoma City. The artificial reservoir serves as flood control but is also a popular recreational area for fishing, boating, camping, and picnics.

The lake is located within the city of Edmond, a suburb of Oklahoma City with a population of around 100,000.
