Siemoniak on False Alarms: No Russian Link, Just a “Desire for Pseudo-Adventure”

Minister Coordinator of Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak stated that the recent wave of false bomb threats targeting Law and Justice (PiS) figures appears to be a juvenile bid for notoriety rather than a foreign operation.

The Wave of Threats Against Public Figures

A series of false alarms has triggered heavy security interventions at locations linked to the Law and Justice (PiS) party. Authorities were dispatched to the residence of Karol Nawrocki’s mother in Gdańsk and the apartment of TV Republika editor-in-chief Tomasz Sakiewicz following threats to life. Similar incidents targeted PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński and former BBN head Sławomir Cenckiewicz.

Investigation Into Motivations

Speaking on TVN24, Tomasz Siemoniak noted that while services always consider the potential for a Russian angle, there is currently no evidence of such involvement. He characterized the suspects as young individuals driven by a desire for a “pseudo-adventure” and a need to demonstrate supposed hacking skills, despite the clear political targeting of the victims.

Arrest of a Warsaw Attorney

Five individuals have been detained in connection with the false alarms, with three already remanded in custody. Separately, Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński confirmed the arrest of Maciej Z., a 48-year-old attorney who impersonated former high-ranking officials to send false reports of assassination plots against the President and the Foreign Minister.

Professional Conduct Under Scrutiny

Siemoniak described the lawyer’s actions as “astonishing,” noting that a legal professional possesses full awareness of criminal consequences. He suggested that the incident reflects how the perceived anonymity of the internet can embolden individuals to engage in harmful activities.
