On Sunday, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski sparked an online dispute by accusing MP Dariusz Matecki of politicizing a debate‑centre meeting and likening his criticism to a ‘dead skunk’ thrown at a person.
Sikorski Fires Back at Matecki on Social Media
Sikorski posted on Sunday, claiming that Matecki had requested an interrogation about whether the Friday meeting of the Regional International Debate Centre in Szczecin was politicised.
He added that the meeting had been organised by a PiS deputy who won the contest to run RODM, and criticised the procedure as impossible to imagine in their time.
Matecki Responds with Accusations
Matecki replied that none of the PiS deputies is a member of RODM in Szczecin, and questioned why public funds are used to host meetings for the most active coalition parties, including MPs and marshals.
He also called Sikorski a “dirty, anti‑Polish creature”.
Clarification from Foreign Minister
Sikorski later posted a clarification stating that the RODM contest was won by the Eko‑Spol Association, led by PiS‑aligned Szczecin deputy Marek Chabior, with coordinator Marek Podsiadło, a former OKW member from PiS.
He thanked them for efficiently organising the meeting.
Official Interpellation Filed
Matecki has already submitted an interpellation to the Foreign Ministry, asking why the ministry allocates public funds for meetings held across the country for supporters of the coalition parties.
Sikorski is urged to respond within the statutory deadline.
Regular Debate Sessions Continue
Monthly meetings with Sikorski on Poland’s situation and global issues are held in various parts of the country at RODM, under the banner “local debates, global solutions”.
Past sessions can be viewed on the Foreign Ministry’s official YouTube channel.
