Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski publicly blasted MP Dariusz Matecki over alleged political motives behind the Regional International Debate Center meetings, sparking a tense exchange on social media.
Sikorski Accuses Matecki of Questioning RODM’s Political Neutrality
In a Sunday post, Sikorski noted that Matecki was preparing an interpellation to ask whether the Friday meeting at the Regional International Debate Center in Szczecin was politicized. Sikorski replied that the event was organized by a PiS councillor who won the contest for running RODM, calling the former procedure unimaginable. He added that being attacked by Matecki was akin to being thrown a dead skunk.
Matecki Responds, Calls for Clarification
Matecki rebutted, declaring that PiS councillors are not members of RODM and questioning why public money is used for party meetings. He also accused Sikorski of being a “lewd, anti-Polish creature.” Matecki said he had already sent the interpellation to the ministry.
Sikorski Provides Further Clarification
Sikorski later explained that the RODM contest was won by the Eko-Spol Association, chaired by Marek Chabior, a Szczecin councillor from PiS, with coordination by former OKW member Marek Podsiadło.
Interpellation Filed to Minister
Matecki confirmed that the interpellation addressed the issue of nationwide meetings organized with public ministry funds, urging a prompt response within the statutory timeframe.
Regular RODM Discussions Continue Across Poland
The RODM holds discussions across various regions under the motto “local debates, global solutions.” Recordings of past meetings are available on the Foreign Minister’s official YouTube channel.
