On Sunday, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski blasted MP Dariusz Matecki on social media, calling his remarks a “dead skunk” attack and demanding clarification.
Sikorski’s Social Media Tirade
In a Sunday post, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski accused MP Dariusz Matecki of attempting to question whether the Friday meeting of the Regional International Debate Center in Szczecin was politicized. He noted that the event was organized by a PiS councilor who had won the competition to lead the discussion forum, calling the procedure unthinkable in earlier times.
Sikorski further voiced frustration, describing the alleged attack from Matecki as if “a dead skunk had been thrown on a person.”
Matecki’s Denial and Retort
Matecki responded by denying involvement of PiS councillors with the debate center and questioned why public funds were used to host meetings with key coalition activists. He dismissed the foreign minister, labeling him a “foul, anti‑Polish creature.”
Additional Clarification from Sikorski
Later, Sikorski clarified that the competition to lead the debate center was won by the Eco‑Spol Association, chaired by PiS councilor Marek Chabior, with coordinator Marek Podsiadło, a former OKW member. He thanked them for organizing the event.
Interpellation Procedural Steps
Matecki indicated that he had already submitted an interpellation questioning the use of foreign ministry funds for meetings across the country with supporters of the ruling coalition. Sikorski urged him to respond “politically and within the statutory deadline.”
