Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski ironically defended MEP Dominik Tarczyński’s controversial comment about an ICE killing in Minneapolis by referencing his past exorcism claims.
Tarczyński’s Controversial Post
After 37-year-old American Alex Pretti was killed by agents of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, Polish MEP Dominik Tarczyński posted “Dobra robota, ICE! FAFO.” “FAFO” is an acronym for the vulgar phrase “F**k Around and Find Out,” serving as a warning about negative consequences of reckless behavior. Pretti was subdued by ICE agents and then repeatedly shot, dying at the scene.
Sikorski’s Ironic Defense
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski responded to the PiS politician’s post, writing: “I may surprise you, but I would defend MEP Dominik Tarczyński. If he saw a woman spitting nails during exorcisms, he could also have seen some guilt in the Minneapolis nurse who was shot.”
Tarczyński’s Exorcism Claims
Sikorski referenced Tarczyński’s appearance on TVN Style over a decade ago. The politician claimed to have been an “assistant exorcist” in the past. “I met with the main Vatican exorcist. He showed me several kilograms of nails and metal objects that materialized during the exorcism. Razor blades, nails, various items that didn’t injure them,” Tarczyński recounted, claiming these objects had been examined. “Normal composition, usually from materials from different parts of the world, which those people spat out,” he said.
Minnesota Situation
Following public outrage over the killing of Alex Pretti (previously Renee Good), Donald Trump removed Greg Bovino, the commander responsible for leading service operations in Minneapolis, who some media blame for aggressive agent actions. Tom Homan now replaces Bovino. After meetings with local authorities, Homan acknowledged that not all ICE actions were “excellent” and that community safety is most important. He stated that withdrawing some federal forces might be possible but with the condition that agents need wider access to state jails. Homan mentioned work is underway to reduce the number of immigration services in Minneapolis. However, Minnesota residents speaking to The Guardian reporters report no change from their perspective after Bovino’s removal, with ICE actions continuing.
