Silesian Police Rescue Dog Tied to Tree, Calmly Escort to Patrol Van

On December 26, officers in Jastrzębia‑Zdrój retrieved a frightened dog bound to a tree, provided temporary care, and later handed it to a local shelter.

Late‑night rescue

Police in Jastrzębia‑Zdrój received a report from a shop worker in the city center who spotted a dog tied to a tree during closing time. Due to the late hour and cold weather, she promptly called the authorities.

Quick trust built

The frightened animal wore a collar but carried no identifying information. Police swiftly gained its confidence and, according to the announcement, “the dog settled in the police vehicle without a problem.”

Temporary care and transport

Because it was too late to hand the dog over to a professional service, officers ensured its safety by providing a warm shelter, water, and food. After stabilizing the animal, they transferred it to a local animal shelter.

Legal reminder to pet owners

The police highlighted that Polish misdemeanor law imposes sanctions—warnings, fines up to 1,000 PLN, or liberty restriction—for failing to observe basic precautions when keeping pets. If a pet poses a danger to life or health, fines can reach 5,000 PLN.

Police appeal

Officials urged owners to supervise their animals properly to prevent unnecessary stress and risk, underscoring that all animals deserve care, respect, and proper attention.
