On Thursday, 6 November, the Port Fire Brigade in Szczecin received a distress signal saying “toniemy,” and firefighters rushed to a local shipyard where a luxury yacht was taking on water.

There, they discovered that the yacht under construction was starting to take on water during the pouring of concrete.

Firefighters worked in difficult conditions, using pumps to remove water from the engine room and lower decks.

The rescue effort was coordinated with plant workers, who proceeded to lift the vessel above the waterline using a crane.
