Sirens Will Ring in Małopolska; RBC Alert Explains How to Respond

On Monday 28 October, the Polish Government Security Center will conduct a siren alarm exercise in the city and commune of Niepołomice, Małopolska, urging residents to stay calm.

Exercise Details

The Government Security Center (RCB) announced that on Monday 28 October an alarm system exercise with sirens will take place in Niepołomice, city and commune, within Wieliczka county, Lesser Poland voivodeship. Residents were advised to remain calm during the drills.

Alarm Signal Types

RCB identified three alarm signals. The first is a civilian alert, featuring a modulated siren lasting three minutes, followed by a verbal announcement repeating “Attention! Attention! I announce an alarm… for…”. The alarm ends when a continuous siren tone sounds for three minutes.

A second signal is for the firefighting unit, characterised by a siren that rises and falls three times with thirty‑second gaps, lasting three minutes.

The final signal is a training exercise, recognised by a continuous siren tone that lasts one minute.

Recommended Actions

When sirens sound, RCB advises residents to keep calm, follow verbal instructions, and take protective measures promptly. If a siren is heard, turn on a radio or television to a local station for risk updates and comply with the guidance given.
