Six-Year-Old Girl Walks Alone on Tracks After Spanish Train Crash Kills Family

A six-year-old girl miraculously survives a train crash in Spain that killed her entire family of five.

Sole Survivor

The only survivor from her entire family, the six-year-old girl lost her parents, 12-year-old brother, and cousin in the crash near Adamuz. The Zamorano Alvarez family was returning home to Aljaraque, near Huelva, after a weekend trip to Madrid where the children saw “The Lion King” musical and visited Real Madrid stadium.

Walking Alone on the Tracks

Found at night walking alone on the railway tracks near the derailed train cars, the girl was discovered by a Civil Guard officer who was privately returning from a weekend trip. The officer took immediate care of the child, keeping her warm in a patrol car with heating on while the girl continuously spoke about her parents.

The Girl’s Extraordinary Bravery

According to the Civil Guard’s account, the young girl freed herself from the wrecked train by removing her coat and shoes to squeeze through damaged structures. “I’ve never seen such a brave child. She didn’t seem to realize the tragedy that had befallen her,” stated the officer. The girl suffered only a minor head injury and was taken to Reina Sofia hospital in Cordoba.

City in Mourning

Aljaraque authorities confirmed the death of four family members. The Zamorano Alvarez family was also known in Punta Umbria where they owned a children’s clothing store. The mayor expressed “immense pain and disbelief” as local authorities declared days of mourning, noting “our city is devastated despite the miracle of the girl’s survival.”

One Story Among Dozens of Tragedies

Spanish media report at least 43 fatalities in the train crash, as rescue teams continue working at the scene while investigators examine the causes of the high-speed train collision. Authorities in Spain have declared three days of national mourning as families still report missing persons and victim identification progresses slowly.
