Skull Found Near Brzeg: Police Seek to Identify Man

Police in Brzeg are investigating a male skull found on a property in Kościerzycy on March 23, 2021, and are appealing for public help to identify the man.

Investigation into the Skull

Criminal investigators from the Brzeg County Police Headquarters are leading an identification case of a male skull found on March 23, 2021, on a property in Kościerzycy, Opole Voivodeship.

A facial reconstruction was prepared by the Department of Forensic Medicine of the Medical University of Poznań.

Estimated Age and Cause of Death

According to the Brzeg County Police, forensic analysis suggests the man was approximately 44-45 years old at the time of his death, which occurred about two years prior to the discovery.

The analysis also revealed a visible surgical scar on the left side of the skull. Dr. Agata Thannhäuser from the Medical University of Wrocław cautioned that such age estimates can have a margin of error of up to 10 years.

Police Appeal to the Public

The man’s identity has not yet been established. Police have published a facial reconstruction and are appealing for public assistance.
