A 42‑year‑old Slovak man, sought under a European Arrest Warrant, was found and arrested by Polish police after hiding in a sofa during a forced entry into his apartment.

Police Response to European Arrest Warrant

Policja quickly reacted to the alert regarding the sought Slovak citizen, operating under directives from the prosecutor’s office and a European Arrest Warrant. They initiated an operation to locate and apprehend the 42‑year‑old man.

The warrant was issued by prosecutors in Żoliborz, Śródmieście, and Łódź to establish the suspect’s whereabouts and was linked to alleged economic and financial crimes.

Armed Entry and Arrest on Żeromskiego Street

After repeated verbal orders to open the doors went unanswered, the police summoned the fire department. Firefighters and officers forcibly broke the balcony door and entered the apartment, discovering the suspect hiding in a sofa.

The man was subsequently taken to the police station on Żeromskiego Street and placed in a police cell.

Temporary Detention and Judicial Proceedings

The following day, the 42‑year‑old was brought before the court, which imposed a seven‑day temporary arrest.

Transfer to Slovak Justice

Once the temporary detention period is complete, he will be handed over to the justice authorities of the Slovak Republic under the execution of the European Arrest Warrant.
