SOP Chief Suspended After Disciplinary Proceedings Initiated

Polish State Protection Service commander suspended after minister initiates disciplinary action.

Ministry Announces Suspension

On Tuesday (January 20), a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration provided information regarding the leadership of the State Protection Service.

“We inform that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against the commander of the SOP, Brigadier General Radosław Jaworski. As a result, he has been suspended from performing his duties,” wrote Karolina Gałecka.

“The duties of the SOP commander have been taken over by the current deputy commander of the SOP, Colonel Tomasz Jackowicz,” added the MSWiA representative.

Leadership “Rebellion” Reported

Last week, the media reported about a “rebellion” in the State Protection Service, according to tvn24.pl.

The SOP leadership wrote a letter to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, demanding the return of General Radosław Jaworski to service. The signing directors reportedly emphasized that he is an experienced and good commander, and that “in a service without a commander, things are going badly.”

“This is a rebellion by the highest-ranking commanders and a vote of no confidence for the head of MSWiA, who removed Commander Jaworski,” emphasized a person close to SOP.
