Sow and Piglets Found Under Warsaw Apartment Balcony

A wild boar sow gave birth to piglets under a balcony in Warsaw’s Białołęka district, prompting authorities to cordon off the area.

Wild Boar Family Discovered in Residential Area

A wild boar sow gave birth to piglets under a balcony at Ceramiczna 5B street in the Białołęka district of Warsaw. A hunter was called to the scene and secured the area with tape, posting a warning sign: “Caution Wild Boars! Sow with piglets. Please do not approach.”

Residents report that wild boars have been appearing on the estate for some time, causing damage, but this is the first instance of them settling so close to a residential building. Concerns center on the safety of children and pets, especially given the proximity of a nursery, kindergarten, and school.

Residents Express Fear and Frustration

“As residents, we have exhausted our options. Wild boars have repeatedly damaged the estate, but this is the first time they have settled here. We are afraid to leave the building because they walk around here constantly,” residents stated.

Limited Effectiveness of Current Measures

The hunter cordoned off the area and posted a warning sign, but these measures may not be effective in deterring the wild boars, which continue to roam the estate freely, ignoring the tape and signs.

Safety Recommendations Issued

Authorities advise against approaching the wild boars, attempting to scare them away, or feeding them, and recommend maintaining a safe distance. Dogs should be kept on leashes in areas where wild animals may be present.

District Efforts to Manage Wild Boar Population

The Białołęka district reports a significant wild boar population and has deployed 15 capture cages. Patrols dedicated to wildlife management also operate in the northern districts of Warsaw. Residents can report sightings via 19115 or contact the Municipal Guard in emergencies.

Intervention requests can be made to 600 020 747 or 600 020 746.

Ongoing Concerns and Calls for Further Action

The area around the building remains secured with tape and warning signs. Residents are hoping for further action from the authorities to mitigate the threat in the vicinity of the building and nearby facilities.
