Attack on Coaches

Near 22:46 on 11 December, police received a report of a masked group moving along the S8 near Prosienica. Five minutes later, a patrol reached the spot to find two coaches carrying Spanish fans en route to Białystok. Two cars had blocked the coaches’ path, and dozens of people ran from a nearby forest onto the road, some wearing masks.

The confrontation escalated until police arrived, preventing further violence. Medical teams treated the injured; three victims were transported to hospital. A total of ten people suffered injuries, nine of whom were Spanish nationals and one Polish, according to the regional police command.

Police Rapid Response

The Ostrowi Mazowieckiej police responded swiftly, engaging the attackers before the situation worsened. Officers arrested four individuals on the scene, including a woman, all residents of Białystok, and later secured the remaining suspects in the area.

In total, seven people were detained. Police said the rapid intervention averted a more serious clash and halted the threat of further damage on the motorway.

Arrests and Evidence Secured

During searches of vehicles and surroundings, officers recovered several dangerous items: metal‑cutting scissors, telescopic poles, wooden sticks, and plastic handcuffs. Inside one car, scarves and mascots in Jagiellonia Białystok colors were found, suggesting a fan‑related incident.

The seized evidence is being preserved while investigators work to reconstruct the full sequence of events and identify all participants.

Context: Pre‑Match Excitement

The incident occurred a few hours before the Europa Conference League match in Białystok, where Jagiellonia Białystok faced Spanish side Rayo Vallecano. The coaches carried the Spanish supporters traveling to the game.
