St. Roch Parish in Poznań has launched a fundraising campaign for a new, soundproof confessional designed to align with contemporary spiritual standards and ensure privacy for penitents and priests.
Church Collects Funds for a Soundproof Confessional
St. Roch Parish in Poznań initiated a fundraising campaign on Monday, August 18, for a new confessional. This is not a typical confessional, as it includes significant upgrades—specifically, soundproofing. “We see a great need for installing another soundproof confessional in our church. This is an investment in dignified, safe, and comfortable conditions for the sacrament of confession, both for penitents and the priest,” wrote the parish in the fundraiser.
Benefits of a Soundproof Confessional
The fundraiser organizers emphasized that acoustic isolation and full enclosure would allow individuals to feel free and secure, assured that their confessions remain private. “The enclosed confessional form meets modern pastoral norms, providing visibility and appropriate distance in accordance with the Church’s recommendations,” stated the campaign. Additionally, the innovative design will cater to elderly individuals and those with disabilities, enabling confession in kneeling or seated positions.
How Much Does a Soundproof Confessional Cost?
The parish set a fundraising target of over 30,000 zł. “The cost of such a confessional exceeds the capabilities of the parish budget. Therefore, we kindly ask for support for this initiative. Every contribution, regardless of size, is a building block toward achieving this necessary cause,” wrote the parish. The campaign will continue until November 18.
