State Labour Inspection to Face Greater Sejm Supervision

Poland’s parliament to enhance oversight of the State Labour Inspection through new mechanisms proposed by the Labour Protection Council.

New Mechanisms for PIP

New mechanisms proposed by the Labour Protection Council (ROP) in the latest amendment to the State Labour Inspection (PIP) law are meant to force the inspection to be more efficient and financially transparent.

Recall that ROP is an advisory and consultative body that operates alongside the Sejm.

Current Role of ROP

It was indicated in the justification that although according to Art. 2 of the PIP Act, the inspection already falls under the Sejm, and ROP supervises it, in practice these provisions are dead.

Binding vs Non-binding Powers

As for ROP, its role is limited to “expressing a position” and assessing personnel matters. However, neither of these actions is binding for the Chief Labour Inspector.
